The Rule Breaking Fashion of Emilie Flöge

Last week I made a grave mistake. While scrolling through Facebook, I stopped and watched a video about a dog rescued from a beach in Puerto Rico. Not surprisingly, this video reduced me to a teary, snotty, crying mess within seconds. And now, just to really rub it in, my Facebook feed is full of rescue dog videos. Casual scrolling has become an act of emotional roulette.

The gamble of social media is why I often stay away from it. Whether it’s anger, or sadness, or irritation, frequently social media incites feelings that I do not enjoy. But I also know that l’m generalizing. There is a huge variety of content on a multitude of platforms and, sometimes, it takes some digging to find the good stuff.

As a stay-at-home project, I’m attempting to build the kind of social media content that I enjoy. My project is called Today I Learned. Using Instagram Stories, I’m sharing the lives of fascinating fashion rule breakers, from both past and present. Below are the slides from the very first Today I Learned featuring Austrian designer, Emilie Flöge.

Right now, the second Today I Learned is live on my Instagram Stories. (Click here to see it!) Every Today I Learned can be found under the “TIL” highlight on my Instagram page.

Which fashion rule breakers inspire you? Who do you think I should learn about next? Please, drop me a message in the comments box. I’d love to hear your feedback!
